The official Canonical Visitation was inaugurated with a Solemn Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Fr. Mukhim Bivan Rodrigues, SDB, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Guwahati.
The celebration opened with a deeply symbolic gesture:
- Sr. Gothorp Mabel carried an empty clay jar to the altar, signifying the province’s openness to receive God’s blessings.
- Sr. Celine Jacob brought a jar of water, pouring it into the empty vessel, representing the grace, wisdom, and renewal she brings through her visit.
In his homily, Fr. Bivan highlighted five key reflections for the province during this time of renewal:
- Listening – Attentiveness to God’s voice and one another.
- Frank Dialogue – Open and sincere conversations.
- True Synodality – Journeying together as a community.
- Retreat and Renewal – Looking back with gratitude, embracing the present, and stepping forward with hope.
- Deepening Commitment – Strengthening faith, mission, and service.
The celebration was followed by the cutting of the inaugural cake, symbolizing the sweetness of communion and joy within the province.
